Computer Information Technology Diploma
Career Description
Information Technology (IT) professionals work together to improve existing computer systems and support end-user technologies increase productivity in any business environment. They lead the way through planning and development of new systems using knowledge of hardware, software, and best application practices. IT professionals are not “one size fits all,” especially when it comes to business. Different companies have different needs. IT professionals use skills from multiple areas to plan, configure, repair, or troubleshoot endpoint operating systems, application suites, and cloud-based applications. They may work towards higher-level positions within organizations and carry out the day-to-day troubleshooting, upgrading, and repair of various endpoints.
Program Information
The Computer Information Technology Diploma will train students with skills and character needed to be a successful IT professional in today’s job market. The program includes a variety of IT concepts and methods used today in emerging technologies. With mobile devices, desktops, servers, and computer applications, cloud applications, students will learn the skills needed to be successful in troubleshooting, repair, and instruction of IT systems and applications in a professional business environment. The curriculum engages student learning as well as builds character and confidence with team building, communication skills, and training in end-user support and customer service. CLC computer technology instructors are industry-certified professionals with years of experience in the classroom and industry.
Program Outcomes
Graduates will be able to:
- Perform computer information technology practices and procedures required for entry to mid-level employment;
- Perform computer information technology entry to mid-level skill sets and apply theoretical principles;
- Install, manage, configure and use functions and features of current releases of operating systems, network operating systems and applications;
- Install, troubleshoot and repair computer equipment and peripherals;
- Locate, evaluate and properly utilize the tools and resources appropriate to a computer technology professional;
- Evaluate, identify and apply appropriate security standards;
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences; and
- Comprehensive knowledge and use of applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Certification
This program will prepare students for the following certifications from CompTIA: A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+, and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS). Students are encouraged to pursue certifications however they are not required for program completion and require additional costs per exam. Certification educational discounts are available to CLC Students through CompTIA and Microsoft.
